Download ePCon
The PC application for your plasma table. Free, no installer and no sign-up: just unzip it.

What you need
Getting started in 5 steps
Unzip it
Right-click the zip → Extract All… and choose a folder of your own, for example
C:\Nortec\ePCon. Don't run it from inside the zip and don't put it in Program Files: Windows won't let it save its settings there.Open ePCon.exe
The first time, Windows may show “Windows protected your PC”. That's because the application is not digitally signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway. It only appears the first time.
Connect the controller
Power the controller and plug in the network cable. Look at the lights on the network socket: steady light = cable OK; no light at all = check the cable (crossover?) and the power supply before going on.
Put the PC on the controller's network
From the factory the controller is at
192.168.157.111. The PC needs a fixed IP on the same network, for example192.168.157.2with mask255.255.255.0. Set it in Control Panel → Network and Internet → Change adapter settings → right-click the network connection → Properties → Internet Protocol Version 4 → Use the following IP address.Connect from the app
In Settings → Connectivity click Find (network): it finds the controller and fills in the IP. Then click Connect. The full manual is inside the app, in the About tab.
Factory settings: what they are and what you must change
The app starts with safe, generic values. Settings are saved automatically when you close the app and sent to the controller every time you connect.
| Setting | Factory value | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Steps/mm for X, Y and Z | 100 | Set them for your machine before working. Zero the axis, send G1 X100 F500 from the MDI and measure how far it really moved (d). New steps = current steps × 100 / d. Change them in Settings → Axis Settings. |
| Speed and acceleration | 12000 mm/min · 60 mm/s² | Safe values to start with. Raise them little by little once the mechanics are checked. If an axis loses steps, lower the acceleration before the speed. |
| E-stop, limit switches and probe | Enabled | Check them one by one before moving anything (see Safety). If one works the wrong way round, change its Inverted box in Settings → Inputs. |
| A axis | Slave of X | Meant for gantries with two motors. If your machine uses A as a fourth rotary axis, untick the Esclavo de X box (it keeps its Spanish name on screen). |
| THC (torch height control) | Set point 110 V | With the VD board connected, calibrate the arc voltage and set point for your cutter (manual, section 7). |
| Controller IP | 192.168.157.111 · port 2055 | Usually there is nothing to change: Find (network) fills it in. |
| Language | English | Change it in Settings → General → Language (Spanish, English or French). |
Safety: before the first move
- Always keep the physical e-stop within reach. It stops motion and switches the outputs off even if the PC hangs. Test it: with the machine stopped, press it; its light comes on in the app and Run and jog are blocked.
- Test the limit switches by pressing them by hand: their light comes on in the app.
- First moves with jog: short, slow, with your hand on the e-stop. Check every axis goes the right way. If one goes backwards, invert its direction in Settings → Axis Settings.
- With a new program, do a dry run first and check heights and possible collisions before Run from line or Go to zero.
- Ground the table properly and keep signal cables (network, USB, RS485) away from power cables and the torch lead: striking the plasma arc makes a lot of electrical noise.
- If the PC stops talking, the machine stops on its own. After three quarters of a second without news from the PC (loose cable, app closed, PC hung) the controller brakes and switches the outputs off.
USB driver: hardly ever needed
- The app talks to the controller over the network cable. USB is only used to find out the IP if Find (network) doesn't find it.
- Windows 10 and 11: nothing to install.
- Windows 7: with the USB cable plugged in, open the
driversfolder of the zip and runCH341SER.EXE→ INSTALL. It is the chip maker's official, signed driver. If one or two yellow entries called USB JTAG/serial debug unit remain in Device Manager, that's normal: leave them alone. - The
drivers\tallersubfolder is for service technicians only.
When a new version comes out
- Save your settings: Settings → General → Export.
- Download the new zip and unzip it into a new folder.
- Open the new app and bring your settings back with Import, or copy your
settings.iniinto the new folder. Restart the app. - If the version brings new firmware for the controller, you update it from the app itself: Settings → Firmware → Update firmware.
